How I Treated My Acne – 13 Effective Ways to Achieve Clear Skin in a Short

Span of Time

I have been dealing with Acne since my adolescent days. My skin has always been super oily and prone to break outs! But once I reached my 20’s my skin was äll fine with minimal break outs. But just when I entered my 30’s my skin was back to what it was, even worse ☹

I only got up every morning to look at myself in the mirror and found more and more bumps spreading all over my cheek bones and jaw line. I tried all the topical treatments possible, creams, ointments, medicated soaps, home remedies and so on but nothing worked! All it did was dried out my skin for some time and it would get even more oily after a few days, which means more acne.

I decided to study this problem thoroughly and understand the root cause of this so that I could rectify it from the very beginning. After much research, I understood that Acne is not the problem itself, it’s just one of the symptoms telling you that your body is not functioning the way it needs to, in other words your body is highly inflamed. Once you treat the inflammation, everything else will settle on its own.

Body inflammation can be caused by poor diet, unhealthy lifestyle, stress and so on, you have probably heard of all this before and are looking for a solution to get rid of all of this😊 I completely get you, acne is not only painful, but it can lead to severe depression and break your confidence.

The interesting thing here to notice is that while you are suffering from acne, you also need to look out for other symptoms like excessive hair fall, body pain, weight gain, tiredness, fatigue, mood swings. If you can relate to all these symptoms than you have come to the right page. Let me quickly guide you on the steps that I implemented in my life which not only helped me in curing my acne but also helped with my other health issues.

Now understand that getting cured is an ongoing process, as long as you continue to choose a healthy lifestyle, you will benefit the positive results.

Below are the steps I added to my lifestyle and till date continue to do so!

1. Drinking Water from Copper Bottle

I have started drinking water from a copper water bottle since a few months now. And the health benefits that I have experienced are just beyond amazing. Copper is known to be oligodynamic in nature (the sterilizing effect of metals on bacteria) and can destroy bacteria very effectively. It is especially effective against E.coli and S.aureus – two bacteria that are commonly found in our environment and are known to cause severe illnesses in the human body. Lesser bacteria means less acne, Simple!

Copper is also very important in absorption of Magnesium and Iron in the body, copper deficiency can lead to improper absorption of magnesium which can lead to poor digestion and slow metabolism, thus increasing the toxin levels. I simply store water in a copper bottle overnight and consume the water the next day.

2. Oil Pulling

I can’t stress enough on the benefits of oil pulling, having a clean and clear skin means detoxifying the body from within and oil pulling basically helps in doing that. Studies have proven that the oil literally pulls all the bad bacteria, yeast and toxins that get stored in our mouth, especially after a whole night’s sleep of 8 to 10 hours straight!

I religiously practice oil pulling for 15mins every morning as soon as I wake up. I take 10 to 15ml of sesame oil in my mouth and swish in my mouth and then spit it all out and brush my teeth as normal. The refreshing feeling of a clean mouth and fresh breadth is unexplainable! `

3. Taking a Pinch of Nigella Seeds.

Nigella seeds better known as Kalonji in India is powerful ingredient full of anti-oxidants that neutralize harmful free radicals and prevent oxidative damage to cells. Research shows that antioxidants can have a powerful effect on health and disease. Not only this, kalonji also has some amazing anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help the body to neutralize and perform to its very best.

I just take a pinch of kalonji seeds and swallow it with a glass of water on empty stomach followed by next ritual mentioned below….

4. Drinking Apple Cided Venigar.

This is a game Changer!

I take a table spoon of ACV (15ml) in a glass of water on an empty stomach post my Oil pulling session. Drinking ACV helps in maintain a healthy Ph balance in your body for proper digestion and function. It also helps in lowering blood sugar levels which is great for those with Type 2 diabetes.

ACV works to detoxify your liver for better overall health and bodily functions. As well as building a healthy lymphatic system that nurtures proper circulation of lymph-which is the body’s garbage disposal.

5. Healthy Breakfast

I like to have a breakfast which has a mix of healthy ingredients, relying just on one ingredient is not really a good idea. My go to breakfast is an Oats shake which also includes fruit, chia seeds, flax seeds, coconut milk, dates, Womens Horlicks. 6. Avoid Refined Sugar

Sugar is the number one reason for your increasing body inflammation, it speeds up the growth of un wanted bacteria and yeast in your digestive track which then enters your blood stream causing a host of health issues and acne is one of them! I simply try and avoid excessive white sugar, which means no more than 2 teaspoons a day, I avoid tea, coffee, additional sweets and try and indulge in them occasionally.

7. Proper Food Intake

By this I mean, less of grains and more of veggies and fruits. My Office lunch compromises of daal, 1 roti, handful of rice, sabzi, bowlful of raw salad, boiled egg and curd. I try and have a very light meal at dinner as well. The idea again here is to have multiple ingredient meal rather than depending only on grains.

This simply means getting it all, fiber, protein carbs, fats. Also, one more important aspect is to maintain proper food timings, so that the body gets into a routine and this also helps in regulating insulin levels in the blood.

8. Supplements

I have experimented with a ton of supplements but in the due course realized that our body really doesn’t need synthetic vitamins and minerals. As long as you eat healthy, your body will get appropriate amount of all essentials. But to reduce my body inflammation and to get rid of my toxins, I have included the following supplements in my lifestyle routine.

  • Magnesium – helps in digestion.
  • Ayurvedic Giloy – strengthens immune system
  • Ayurvedic Gandhak Rasayan – has anti-inflammatory properties
  • Ashwagandha tablets – a very good energizer and restores good sleep.
  • DIIM supplements – helps support hormonal health.

9. Physical Activity

Physical inactivity I believe was the root cause of all my problems, long sitting hours at work had changed my body’s metabolism in a negative way, with slow metabolism came increase in sugar levels which in turn resulted in hormonal imbalance and body inflammation. I now make sure I do a little bit of exercise in my office gym or at home, if I can’t manage exercising on a particular day, I at least do my stretching religiously. This helps me loosen and relaxing my tissues and muscles and helps with a good blood flow.

10. Quality of Sleep

I am very particular about my sleep, no staring at the phone screen 30 mins prior to sleeping. I try and hit the bed at the same time every day. I ensure to get at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep at a stretch. Another thing that I practice is putting off the lights very early, about an hour prior to hitting the bed, this helps the body to prepare itself and shut down efficiently.

11. Enemas

Now this one might shock you but getting rid of all the unwanted waste and toxins from your digestive track is extremely important for good absorption of nutrients from the food you consume. No matter how healthy you eat, if your intestine is full of hard toxins, it will not healthy food do its job instead it will only make matters worse giving you inflammation, stomach upsets, bloating and so on.

I have started practicing warm water enemas every morning before my breakfast, this helps things to get moving and I feel light and full of energy. You can simply buy an Enema kit from Amazon and use it at your convenience at your home.

12. Quality Skincare Regime

By this I do not mean investing in high end products, rather simple but effective ones. I will soon write an article on my complete night skin care routine.

But for now, I will mention that I do not skip removing my make up at night, I use baby lotion to melt all my makeup, wipe it with a wet cotton pad, wash my face with a gentle face wash. Post that I simply apply my eye cream and a blend of essential face oils which consist of rose hip oil, grape seed oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil (I have mixed them all in small portions and have stored it in a glass bottle). That’s it for my night time skin care!

13. Changing Thought Process.

Never imagined including this in the treatment for Acne? Well this will not directly treat your acne but once you learn to lessen your stress levels, everything else will fall in place.

And stress is best managed by managing your thought process. Let not unwanted people and their negative comments and judgements let you down. Prove yourself to no body but to only yourself. Be thankful for all the blessings that have been bestowed upon you. Don’t participate in rat race, enjoy your journey and motivate yourself to do good things. Most important of all is to learn to forgive. Hatred, ego, anger does not harm anyone but Yourself!
